Appalachian State University offers a wide variety of degree programs via distance education at the undergraduate level and both degree & certificate programs at the graduate level. Programs are offered at sites/locations across western North Carolina and online. Click here to access the main Distance Education site with complete information about programs, the application process, locations, and much, much more.
All of Appalachian’s off-campus undergraduate programs are designed as degree-completion programs. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to complete an Associate of Arts or Science degree (or the 44-hour core from the NC Community College System) or Appalachian’s general education courses before applying to Appalachian to enter a Distance Ed program to complete their upper-division (or major coursework). View the undergraduate program list, and contact a program manager for more information. Just want to be notified about your preferred program? Set up an AppConnect Account.
Appalachian also offers a variety of off-campus, part-time graduate programs, also designed for working and place-bound adults. See the list of proposed graduate programs and the graduate program manager list and contact information.
